The doctor is safe.
Doctor Uladzimir Martau, detained on May 14 in the city of Murino in the Leningrad Region and placed in a Vitebsk pretrial detention center on charges of participating in an “extremist group,” has left Belarus, Mediazona writes.
It is reported that Martau is in Lithuania.
Uladzimir Martau worked in Vitebsk as a resuscitation doctor. In April 2021, his contract was not renewed. In 2022, after seven days of arrest for a White-Red-White flag on his Facebook profile picture, the doctor left Belarus for Russia, where he was detained.
It is known that the Belarusian has been on the interstate wanted list since March for “participating in the activities of an extremist community” for an interview with a “radio station recognized as extremist" in December 2023.
