Turkish Hoteliers Propose To Abolish All-Inclusive System

Representatives of the Turkish tourism industry have once again proposed to abolish the all-inclusive system of hotel services in hotels, Hürriyet reports.

“The results we have achieved in this way are undeniable. However, in the new process that we are experiencing years later, it needs to be discussed again,” entrepreneur Zafer Alkay, who was one of the founders of this system in the 1990s, told the newspaper.

According to him, hoteliers need to reconsider their policies in favor of improving the quality of food provided to tourists. “Tourists who require high-quality products and services are naturally willing to pay the appropriate price. The issue of reaching these tourists in our geography of long-distance/short-distance tourism is important here,” the expert emphasized.

Turkey has repeatedly proposed to abolish the all-inclusive system. Thus, in January 2023, tour operator Erol Guldal said in an interview with the Turkiye Turizm newspaper that Turkey could abandon the all-inclusive system and switch to a half-board system, “so that rich German tourists would come.”

Last year, according to official data, 56.7 million tourists visited Turkey, with Russian citizens taking first place — 6.3 million people. By the end of the current year, Turkey expects to receive 60 million tourists, receiving $60 billion in tourism revenue, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said earlier.
