Famous American singer Taylor Swift has supported Kamala Harris in the upcoming US presidential election. She published a statement to this effect on her Instagram.
The singer said that her decision to speak publicly was influenced by AI-created photos published by Donald Trump. They show Swift allegedly supporting the Republican candidate.
‘This has led me to the conclusion that I have to be very sincere about my real plans for this election,’ she wrote.
The singer said she believes Harris is a ‘solid talented leader.’
‘I will cast my vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz (Tim Walz is a vice presidential contender. - Ed.) in the 2024 presidential election,’ Swift wrote in her post.
Swift explained that she will be voting for Harris ‘because she fights for rights and causes that I believe need a warrior to stand up for them.’
‘I think she is a steady hand, a talented leader, and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if calm, not chaos, leads. I was so moved and impressed by her choice of partner Timothy Walz, who has spent decades advocating for LGBTQ+ rights, IVF and a woman's right to her own body,’ she revealed.
Swift captioned the post ‘childless cat lady.’ That's what - ‘a bunch of childless cat ladies with miserable lives’ - Republican vice-presidential candidate J.D. Vance called Democratic politicians.
Two presidential campaign officials told US NBC News that Swift's endorsement came as a surprise to Harris' staff.
‘The campaign sees the singer's endorsement as part of a ‘decisive victory’ for the vice president and speaks to her ability to attract support, one of the officials said,’ NBC writes.
As of the morning of September 11, Swift's post had gathered more than 4 million likes.
