One dead.
The Shot and Baza Telegram channels report a series of explosions occurred in the Seliger City residential complex on Ilmensky Proezd in Moscow on the night of September 30.
According to their data, a total of five to eight explosions were heard, after which a strong fire began, which quickly engulfed apartments from the fifth to the eighth floors, The Moscow Times writes.
According to preliminary data, the explosions were caused by gas cylinders that were in one of the apartments on the fifth floor, a TASS source in the emergency services reported. The apartment was undergoing renovation, and at least four gas cylinders were delivered there the night before to install a suspended ceiling, residents of the building told Shot.
Burning fragments of the exploded cylinders were scattered under the windows of the building. The blast wave knocked out windows in neighboring apartments.
As a result of the explosions, one person died — rescuers found his body after the fire was extinguished and the rubble was cleared. There is no information about the gender and age of the deceased. It is also not reported whether the rubble has been cleared.
Two more people were injured, including a child. They were taken to city hospitals, and are receiving medical care. Five people were saved. One of them jumped out of a window — local residents caught him on a stretched blanket. The man survived, but suffered several fractures.
Due to the fire, traffic along part of Ilmensky Proezd was blocked. The Ministry of Emergency Situations cordoned off the scene. 88 people extinguished the fire, and it was only two hours after the explosions — by 4:25 Minsk time.
The Investigative Committee of Russia has opened a case on causing death by negligence (Part 1 of Article 109 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) regarding the death of a person in the Seliger City residences.
